Moving.......
hey my grandfathers house has had a nice pond there now for the past 15 years and is full of lmb 3crapies(lol) a few bluegills and golden shiners(maybe ifthey made it without getting eatin..) I was wondering if it is a good idea to put koi in there for a food source for the bass as the bluegills have only been in there for a few months and didn't produce any babies, also I would like the koi in there because they also make the pond look good:)

If the koi are a food source then they will not be around to look good. I think it will depend on the size of the koi as well.

No Koi are related to Carp and will eat the eggs of other fish (Bluegill and fatheads if you stock them)....they will also get to big for the bass to eat, and if the pond has scuds or water insects the bass are eating they will eat the plants that feed the scuds and other insects. Fathead minnows are a good one if you put in enough cover to give them a place to breed and protection from the bass, but your golden shiners (if theyre big enough) are supposed to be really good breeders and will last longer than fatheads (they are faster and get bigger). The main thing is to have cover for your breeding feeders away from the bass, (the bluegill may have spawned but because their was no cover the Bass ate all the yearlings); by the way, what is the size of your pond and the average sizes of the fish in it.

there is two or three 4-5pound bass and the rest average one or two pounds and I keep and eat the 12-14inchers cause they take the bigger ones food...I was thinking of putting a few big koi in and starting from that..

For food for your LMB's Koi would be a bad choice....the Golden Shiners and Bluegill are excellent choices (fatheads are good as long as you have plenty of hiding places and areas they can spawn in).
