Turned on my lights. then this is what i see... I just got rid of bichir lice.(slime coat eating I forget what its called) now this just sucks. the other bichirs were nibbling on him and he was bleeding a lot. I was amazed how this 17" (#1)koloton gets chewed instead of the 8-9" sens or tiny Palmas sp. i have

now I setup a hospital tank and treated him

Now he just floats around with is mouth open a little. If he dies, I think im done with the poly game... :irked:

Hopefully he pulls out and is fine. Doesn't look too bad and if he pulls through it should heal. And even if he does die (which in don't think will happen) I always think of it as well let's learn from it and try to prevent it from happening again. So what did you treat him with?
 
good news is it looks like the base of the fin is still there and poly's are notorious for growing them back.

I had the fins chewed off before, but not this bad. The underneath the jaw it is open where the gills are exposed and a bunch other holes. seems there might be a slight swelling on the jaw. I used the same tank water from my 240g and filled a 20g i had sitten. Just aquarium salt. I have melafix, but that stuff is gonna wait till he seems more stable

nah yours is fine, Im just pissed how this 17" bichirs get bit instead of my small upper jaws

Im hoping it does. I have del that got both pectorals ripped off. and they healed up fine! but this looks waaaayyy different
 
What do you have that chewed up a big poly like that? That's awful.

Sorry to hear this Kai. It doesn't look good as I see bloody blotches on its face and surrounding area. Is this a new addition? Perhaps it got attacked by some other fish? ....... but I do hope it pulls through.
