I didn't want to create a new thread but I searched online but no help. I basically bought a bunch of aquarium item for relatively cheap. Most of the stuff have been half used, not too old not too new. The guy I bought these stuff from include a Kordon Amquel Plus and Kordon Novaqua Plus. The Novaqua has a blue tint of color and slimy consistency. But the Amquel looks and pours like water, even smell odor-free. I always use Prime so I got no experience with this brand. Can someone confirm the Amquel is supposed to be like this? I hope he didn't mix it up with water to make it fuller. Thanks in advance.

Wow .. I'm really surprise this stuff has no smell? I mean Prime looks like water but it smells quite strong..

Prime is more concentrated, 1 capfull for 50 gallons as opposed to Amquel 1 capfull for 10 gallons. Prime is actually cheaper in the long run. I use Seachem Safe and mix my own just a powdered form of Prime.

Be careful doing that. Once you mix with water, the shelf life is pretty short. I read that either on their website or in a response to an email from them on here somewhere. I think the shelf life was something like 72 hours.

It has no shelf life to speak of, Safe must be mixed and used right away. You can't mix it and leave it for the next water change. I just mix the amount I need.

I'd say mixing safe as needed is the cheapest but in terms of simple chlorine removal the topfin brand stuff from petsmart works well for me and it is cheaper than both amoquel and prime when it comes to gallons treated. One 8 oz ($6) bottle treats 2400 gallons. When you do 300 gallon water changes a week, it adds up. But to answer the thread, yes amoquel looks like water..
