Hi all, I'm new here to the site and would appreciate any good advice for my Kribs.

We have a 4ft tank with a pair of Kribs and about 20 3w/o fry. All was going well untill Mama attacked Daddy and chewed off almost all of his tail fin...

I called the petshop after the first attack because he didn't look too good, he was laying on his side at the top and really breathing hard. They said to put him in another tank and when he seemed better put him back.

I did and it was a huge mistake because she attacked him worse than the first time. Within 15 minutes he had only a little tail left.

He now only has that little bit of fin at the top of his tail as the Tetras had a go at him...

I've put him in back in the other tank with the Tetras (who thankfully are leaving him alone now) but because he has so little tail left he spends his time nose down or upside down.

Does anyone know how long it might take for his tail fin to grow back?
Any advice on best way to deal with him? (And no, i will not flush him)

Thanks!

Kribs i mean as hell i had a female it jumped out of the tank one day when i wasn't home it was my wifes fish i like CA/SA my self

*fingers crossed*
I hope he does make it cos he is my favourite fish.
This is the first time we've had Cichlids and it has been really fascinating watching them. Mama reminds me of a dog the way she shakes herself before rushing the glass when i look in.

When i fist saw Daddy pick up one of the fry in his mouth i spun out cos i thought he ate it! lol!

Unfortunately i messed up too bad with him and he's gone...

That's one lesson learned - if you take a fish away from an attacker don't bother trying to put it back at all!!!
Not even for a few minutes thinking all might be well 'cos it won't be!!!

I think we'll sell off the Cichlids and go for a nice calm fish, something pretty and happy...
I have 3 kids who love watching the fish too so i don't want them watching the fish killing each other.

Anyone have any suggestions on some good fish???
Thanks.
