Hey everyone,
I had been looking for a dwarf cichlid for my planted 29 gal for a while now. I finally decided on kribs. I picked up a m and f 3 days ago. The m is 1/3 larger than the f. My only other choices were an even larger male or unsexable fry. Both colored up beautifully upon introduction to my tank. The m seems to be chasing the f and avoiding her breeding requests. He is not nipping or hurting her at all.
Should I add a second f to give him a choice on a mate, or wait and see?

This tank has 2x ottocats, 5x guppies and 2x 1" comets as tankmates. The guppies and comets are dither fish and will end up being fed to my oscars, if they make it!

Thanks for any advice or insight in Advance.

The chasing is totally normal. It would be a good idea to find another female. In my experience with breeding kribs, they don't break pair bonds without a reason. But, the male and female may just not like one another. Another female would give the male choices and lead to a higher chance of fry.

my male is bigger than my female unless they are BOTH ready they will bicker like that.

I removed the 2 largest female guppies and the comets. I added a second female krib and that did the truck. The male is happier, and both females are colored up and competing for his attention.

once the male colors up too u will have babieson ur hand soon. My pair has beautiful breeding colors. Amazing i absolotuly love them while breeding.
