thinking about painting the inside of my tank but just woundering how the paint holds up after repeated cleaning and removing algae??

Why are you painting the inside of your tank?

I don't think the cured paint will hold up to any cleaning or removing of algae.

Hello; Perhaps painting the outside of the tank on the sides you want covered will work. When painting signs the paint in put on the backside of the glass as it looks better viewed from the other side.

I can see why you would want to paint your inside of the tank if the back was already painted. I had this dilema bright blue back. I thought about adding in some plexi pieces to the back. I could paint the plexi on the back and attach it to the back wall. It's an idea. That way you wont scrape off the paint.

I ended up sanding off the paint on the back of my acrylic 100, and painted it black. And like an idiot I let the sun hit it one morning while it was in the garage drying and it heated up and cracked. (Black paint)
If the tank is plexi, you can sand it and paint it, and the scratches are not noticable. try it on something like a CD case. Sand it, and paint the sanded side. Look at the other side. Cant tell.

Anyhow, what is your goal?

thanks ppl!! yes bill you hit it on the head!! the tank is painted blue alreday with?? i dunno what but it aint coming off very easy or clean even with a razor geez!!! and i know that the fusion painta are fish safe inside with a complete 7 day cure so just woundering if anyone else has done it yet and the results if the paints flaked off while being clenaed!! hmm??? i want a black background like i had on my previous 240gal! but all i did with it was paint the outside backside and looked great

avoid any kind of paint on clear walled tanks, instead get a vinyl sticker of the color you need and stick it from the outside , looks great easy to remove too!
hope this helps.

He has blue paint on the back that he can't get off...hence the need for painting the inside of the tank black...

well guys i spent alot of time and some sore fingers and many many razor blades later i now have that crappy blue paint off so now to paint er black!! thanks everyone!!

when you paint your tank, you want to paint the outside or else when you fill your tank the paint chemicals will kill your fish

Hi im currently building a tank out of steel am am using a rubberised pondpaint to line the inside here is a link http://5playleisure.co.uk/Aquatics_PRODUCT_INFO.html
it a UK company so not sure if you have similar in the states but this stuff sticks to virtually anything and dries like rubber , it does have a matt like finish so algae may anchor to it . I just mentioned as the thought of using it for this exact purpose came to me just now whilst I was using it.
