Long story short, I haven’t seen my Kuhli loaches out and about in months… then yesterday while I was out of town my house sitter sends me this pic. They started hiding again when I upgraded their tank a few months ago. Currently setting up their own QT rn. Can anyone identify what might be going on with them please?

"Jagged" stones or anything else are a bad mix with fish like these, which love to squirm and insinuate themselves under and into whatever cover they can find. They won't be likely to get stuck...but they are very susceptible to scraping themselves up as they extricate themselves.

Good news is that they don't look to be infected and will likely heal up without issue as long as the water is kept pristine and the possible sources of the damage are removed.

I agree that the dragon stone isn’t a good match for them. they were in my community tank. If it is just injury from a source than they will definitely be okay! But I wanted to make sure that it is in fact injury or some unknown sickness or something else for proper medication of diagnosis.

Yes, looks like scrapes.

May not be your cup of tea but I keep khuli loach only tanks (species tanks) with 20cm deep 8mm river pebble (smooth) with a 3mm horizontal mesh mid way. They are very easy to breed this way with the mesh preventing egg and baby predation. They are secretive until feeding time but if you throw in 100 + loaches you will always see some.

Catching out babies is impossible, I use a fish trap to thin numbers periodically.

Yes, they are scratches, most likely your finch is scratching against decorative locks or something similar, Kuhli loach tank size Requirements: The minimum tank size for Kuhli loaches is recommended to be at least 20-30 gallons (approximately 75-115 litres) for every 3-4 fish. Choosing a larger aquarium will give them more room for activity and better development.
