I'm sorry to hear that your Golden Nugget died.

Why are you changing the water every day in a 55 gallon tank? Unless your water balance is off (PH, Nitrites (NO2), Nitrates (NO3), Carbonate Hardness (KH), General Hardness (GH), and Ammonia), you shouldn't need to change the water in your tank more than once a week, depending on how many fish you have in that tank (and how big they are).

I have a 72 gallon tank, and my everything is perfect except for my Nitrates. That seems to build up over the course of 1 to 2 weeks. I do a tank cleaning once every other week (once a week if the Nitrates build up too quickly), where I siphon out about 25 gallons of water and replace it with filtered water from my kitchen sink (I have an InstaPure Carbon Filter attached to it). The filtered water I am using has the perfect balance for my tank's needs, so I don't need to add anything else except for a capful of StressZyme after I've finished refilling the tank. Once a month, I change out the different elements in my Fluval Filter system.
