I have both.
In my experience it really depends on a few variables.
Tank mates and size of the pleco plays a huge roll.
I picked both mine up small and they were both really shy.
But as they age and get some size on them their personality started to change.
The L24 I’ve had longer and it’s to about 8 inches now and stays out all the time, bit of a bully actually.
The L14 is smaller (not in the same tank) but as it gets some size is spending more time out these days.

I would have the potential Pleco in with good size Uaru and Severum in a 8’ tank,375 gallons.

You shouldn’t have any problems keeping either or both for that matter.
Once established and comfortable they will stay out more.

Have you run across a more yellow variant of the L-014 Sunshine Pleco? Not sure if different L Number or a different collection point. Supposedly rarer.

Generally I'd say L14 are less shy. But it's really up to the pleco itself -- for example, I've had multiple L24 and L25s and every pleco was different. Some not shy at all, others a little and others even extremely shy.
