I just got my breeding group of L-183s yesterday. The group consists of 2 wild adult males and 1 wild adult female along with 2 F1 unrelated sub-adult females. I would post pics but I don't have a camera right now. I gave up on breeding most species I was breeding due to a move and I am just focusing on harder to get fish now.

Very cool, and difficult to obtain pleco breeding is next on my list of fish accomplishments. I'd love to see some pics when you do get that camera. What species are you breeding?

Just the L-183s right now. I have a group of L-046 I will be receiving soon as well. I went from over 30 species and 100 tanks to 1 species and 3 tanks because of space constraints.

if you breed those guys i will be truly impressed. ive only heard of people breeding the bristlenose plecos. apparently those arent that hard though.

It appears I may already have a spawn. My adult wild female was fat last saturday when I picked them up and now she is skinny and the large male hangs out in the breeding cave all day. That would be great news.

These guys eat better than any other pleco I have had. The love fresh zucchini and algae wafers.

best of luck to you

those fry/youngsters are in my tank but I did not spawn them....my friend did. I got 20 of his fry when they were about 1" and they are pushin 2" now in that pic. For him it took soft water and blackwater extract. Do you have an RO ?

I have 4 adults....3 males and only 1 female unfortunately
I also have 6 sub-adults that look to be 1M and 5F so hopefully I can get some pairs formed.

I haven't given a serious go at breeding them yet....but plan to.

you picked a heckuva pleco for your first breeding attempt haha
keep us posted

First pleco but not first fish. I am afamiliar with breeding blackwater fish such as oscars and discus which I have had success with. Since my business is no longer up and running I am focusing on the specialized fish that need more dedication since I have the extra time to devote.

I went from 113 tanks to one. In my opinion I think these plecos will be a breeze compared to oscars, discus, and Moba frontosa.

I will keep everyone updated though.
