 I got a sub adult L-25 from exotic finds a few months ago. Good sevice I recomend them. Anyway , I researched the fish @ planet catfish. They said that they are very dirty and should be the center piece of the tank not an addition to a tank with other large fish.:hitting: Well being true to form , I took this under advisement. Well they are right the (L-25) fish produces a huge amount of waste. The tank can be held at a safe and healthy level. I must do the weekly water change replacing 90% of the water , cleaning filters at least weekly. Gravel vac all the tank bed the best you can every water change ,spot vac'ing as needed. I changed the tanks gravel to a larger size stone and only used just enough to cover the base of the tank. Doing this made cleaning much easier both for me vac'ing the gravel and the filters to pick up waste. I would get the fish again in a nano second, wonderful fish, a little shy. :nilly::screwy:

yep 90% :turtle: Also wanted to say, my fish is quite peaceful. However he has no problem displacing a Venezuala pike cichlid that is three times his size and an equally large gibbiceps pleco. No harm is done to any one they give in to his wishes. It is kind of funny since the gibbiceps and pike fought like mad men over differant sleeping spots, when they 3 inches long. But they give in to this little beast now that they are 18 inches long :shark:

I suppose I could relieve you of the poop monster. I'll even take it for free!
JK - I've been looking for an L25 for a while now. Found 3 at a wholesaler today, but they seems really laggy and blah. Figured I'd wait for more active ones or see if those got any better later this week. Good to know they are messy and poop monsters.

tank is 180 gallons pike, gibbiceps, 2 oscar, 3 silver dollars. sand bio filter, eheim 2217, ocean clear 340 cartridge filter with 800 gph pump. the water changes may be exsesive but i want to remove as much waste as i can both the oscars and pike can get hole in the head. i also want to remove any suspended and dissolved waste. the fish seem happy and the tanks look good.
