L-shape

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Never done it but i cant see any reason why not at all, aslong as its built well there should be no problems.
It all about how its built and good enough, i myself was looking into doing one and was going to use ply with GRP, not this liquid rubber stuff, GRP will hold anything aslong as its done properly.

There have been a few posts on here about L-shaped tanks. Yes, it can be done...the ones I saw looked really nice! The search feature isn't working for some reason...or my DSL is acting up again, otherwise I would look them up for you. I am designing a L-shaped tank as part of a basement wall, but I haven't started construction yet.

A few negatives I have heard about L shape tanks is excess stress in the L corner that could lead to failures and also a blind spot in the back of the L corner. Mainly if the setup is not 100% level or the stand/tank/floor settles on either side all that stress will be focused all in the corner. Also from what I have heard you cant really see in the back corner so if a fish dies you may not know for quite some time.

I do think they look really nice and if you can work around or live with the potential issues then go for it!
