Anyone have any experience trying to get Java Ferns to grow with a large Pleco Present? I have a Pardalis that is about 9" in length and would like to buy some Java Ferns for a more natural tank feel. Any imput would be appreciated.

Fake fern? Lol, I have no idea. I know that they eat zucchini and stuff. So you could try and add a oil or something to the plant to stop the plant being eaten if it is, But make sure it's non toxic.

Well large plecos generally end up giving plants a good bashing and uprooting. But java fern you can attach to something like bogwood or even a rock, however there is a chance that it might eat it... depends on the individual and if you feed it well. Personally I've had them strip things like swords and java ferns.

I could increase what I feed Samo to stave that off I guess would just mean cleaning the tank more. First I need to get my hands on some Driftwood for the guy after reading Planet Catfish more carefully. Once that is done I have Lava rock in there that I get the feeling Java Fern will love to root to.

I've never had a problem with the two together.

Meaning Plecos and Java Fern? That emboldens me but curious would it be beneficial to have the driftwood first for something else to anchor the Java Fern to?

I have had a royal and red spotted pleco in with a few kinds of plants and they are more interested in the bogwood than the plants. I feed them algae wafers quite often to keep them happy. They should be fine if you keep them fed.
