I recently picked up a 12" L083 from a guy in my city. He's been in my 40b for two weeks for quarantine. I'm going to move him into a permanent tank soon. I'm not exactly sure where to put him to make him happiest. Right now it's between my 180 gallon that is holding a ~6" RTC that will move to the man cave pond when he's about 15-18". Or should I put the pleco in with my ca cichlids (75 gal, jack Dempsey, firemouth, black convict, each 3-5") or African cichlid tank (75gal, blue hap, Livingstonii, each 4-6")? The reason I ask is, I don't want his fins chewed on or his eyes bitten out by the cichlids.

Well he should be good with the RTC mine was with a common Pleco with no issues at all had too be the Pleco out recently due to getting a stingray

I put him in with the ca cichlids initially and was watching the other fish check him out and the firemouth took a chomp at him in the face (I assume terrible aim while targeting the eyes), so he went in with vlad (RTC) and everything has been fine overnight and today. The only question I have is about the RTC. I came home and noticed vlad was shedding his slime coat. Could this be normal adjustment to new "friends" in the tank, or should I be worried?
