If you had a choice between the two which would you pick? Assuming both are same size. Which is more expensive/rare/valuable? Tankmates would be two goldy plecos. I love the red on L114, but as L114 gets bigger they lose the red. L48 pics says it all.

There both nice fish..

But in the long run.. L-48 grows bigger and their easier to maintain.... not to mention friendly...

L-114 however can be aggressive towards other pleco tankmates..

I personally prefer the L-114, but if you want to keep your L14 Goldies, go with the L48. I think the L-114s will fight so much that you'll have to remove one or the others. I believe Allan used to have both, but had to remove his L14 because it would get beaten up pretty badly by the L114s (if I recall, he has used the term "mortal enemies" to describe the L14 and L114).

Also, I think the red in the L-114 won't completely disappear if you can feed them with food rich in vitamin C. The adults on the PC link look farily vibrant in color (albeit more orange than red):

My L--114 which is 10 inches and I think full grown would not tolerate other plecos. He tore up a few L-14's that I tried with him. The red remains as far as I know. He is in a 65 with a small albino b/n which he ignores. Other tankmates are black banned silver dollars 5 total and a few livebearers for movement. Ilike the L-114 but an L-48nis definately freindlier.

where can i get these fancy plecos?

Congrats! Any pics of the fish, it's tankmates, and the tank itself?
