Hello,

Couple days ago I bought 2 x L114. They have 3-4". There is a big driftwood with many deep holes in my tank. Today I'm trying to find my Pleco, and they disappeared :) I thought that maybe my 20" Black Arowana eat it through the night.

I finally found them inside my driftwood. There is a long and thin tunnel passes through the center. I worry that they can problem to get out (stuck).

Should I help them to move out ? What do you think ?

Thanks !

Try to entice them out with something to eat, or check at night to see if they are coming out. And if they are infact stuck, say goodbye to the driftwood and silcone any other small enough holes. Don't go shoving things in to the hole or shining a light in there or you may scare them INTO being stuck.

I doubt if they are stuck. At that size they are masters of hiding espicially in driftwood like that. I have 2 adults L-114 's and they do not hide. When they were the size of yours they would go into the driftwood and I thought they died. The trick is it get a piece without little crevices. Let them think they are hiding but place the wood where you can see and enjoy them.n I have a lot of experiance with this L number and when they are adults the hiding of the juvies is worth the wait as they are a gorgeous and oscar like personality pleco.

I would take them out to avoid killing your Aro. If it does try to swallow one of them it might get stuck in it's throat and kill it.
The plecos are probably scared to death. They might be stuck as well it can happen.
I've had to cut a l-200 out of a piece of wood once and same thing happened with one of my CW-28's.

I have one L114 that likes to hide in a small ceramic log. You might want to get one for your plec. The other one likes to hide in the driftwood, and see it only occasionally.

Story of my life.

But yeah it's common for them to hide out when young. If they are there for a couple days in the same exact spot, you may want to think about cutting them out but I really wouldn't worry about it too much.
