Hey guys,

So I was interested in picking up either a 10¨ L14 or a 10¨ L25 for my tank with Rays, an Asian Aro, Geophagus and a few other fish. Now, I really like both, they are both my favorite pleco when it comes to looks but I was wondering which one is better as a "showpiece" - because what I really dislike is plecos that hide 99% of the time and mostly just come out when there is nobody in front of the tank or when it's night.

So, for people who have owned either or even better, both species, which one would be less shy?

I would say both are fairly even on terms of shyness.. pseudas aren't generally shy at the 10 inch mark (or full grown) however I would suggest just doing with the pleco you like best.. according to a breeder who kept l600 and l114 he said the l114 is a bit more shy than l600 if that helps

In my experience the L14 is less shy- I have kept both multiple times (and actually have 4 L25 right now). Also when I tried and L24 with my rays it became an issue. L14 no problems.

Thanks mate. I'm leaning a bit more towards the L14 too, just because I haven't heard of any issues with L14 and rays plus I think most of them are out a lot. Had a L24 too, but that guy was hiding all the time and pretty much only came out at night.

Have an L114 at 9 inches in with some large rainbows which it ignores beat the hell out of a smaller L 24 and bothers my bristlenose unless it stay by the driftwood, The L114 stays away from the driftwood. I had an L14 sunshine years ago that was always out and about and never bothered anything I sold it like a fool and regret letting it go. I would say the L 14 is your best bet but go with the fish you like best

In my experience a healthy L14 at any size is more active and not shy.

Yeah thats what I figured from asking people and videos on Youtube too. There is many with L14's and all of them are super active and out all day.

But eh, I really couldn't resist to get that beautiful 7-pointer Sao Felix L25. Might buyx a small 4¨ L14 too and grow him/her out in my 100g until he/she is ready to move into the 470g.
