I have him since about 2,5 months. Never acted like this, always ate his cucumbers and other veggies very well. Ate half a cucumber over a night, easily.

Now since about 2-3 weeks he has not taken anything, really not eaten at all. Not even really going for the wood.

He "shakes" like this
since like, about, almost 2 days now. Constantly. Did a 90% WC. Didnt really help.

Ammonia: 0 (tested it 3 times)
Nitrit: 0 (tested it 3 times)
Nitrat: ~5 - I have almost 0 (about ~2) out of my tap
Temp.: 29.5-30°C
PH: ~7.8 (comes out of the tap like this - I have a drip system installed since over a year, changing about 200% weekly)

The tank is 400g (1500+L). Just about half an inch of sand, a piece of drift wood and pothos roots growing into the water.

edit: he has no visible injuries at all. The only thing I can see is that his eyes dropped "in", if that makes sense. Not really sure if thats because he hasnt been eating well or because of his "sickness"?!

I had a watermelon die on me in about that time frame, I never heard of any plecos recovering after their eyes suck in. I'm under the impression that a lot of these are wild caught and can have things like parasites or other conditions that might not be immediately apparent at the time of purchase.

Most, if not all Panaques are surely wild caught. Havent really heard of anyone breeding them.

**** that makes me super sad now. I dont want him to die, goddamn. I have added 2 new plecos about 2 weeks ago, 2 Pseudacanthicus L273 and 3 new Dats, 3 IT Dats. I could only imagine their parasites ****ed him up, since that could be about the time he stopped eating really and now started acting super weird.

sorry he doesn't look good. especially with those eyes. There is one theory out there that a lot of times these guys are treated with antibiotics once imported. It kills the good bacteria in their gut so even though they are eating there is no nutrient absorption. Is his stomach sunken?

Sunken eye on a pleco is the same as a stringrays death curl.
Fatal and no cure.sorry to say this

this is no always true I have had a couple plecos that soon after purchase had sunken eyes. I brought them back with clean water, very high water flow, many air stones and feeding tempting frozen foods. If I had black worms I would have used them.
