I bought 2 L200's July of last year and one killed the other in one night. I figured I had two males competing for territory. but now I think it is a female since it is only 3" long and more than a year old.

I am wondering if this was just a fluke. Do L200's coexist with other plecos ok? I want another pleco but don't want to literally flush $40. Looking at a gold nugget or a king tiger flash (sorry I dont have L numbers)

The majority of pleco death not due to water issues are caused by: lack of hiding places, lack of food, too much light. The other thing to consider if you did not see them fighting before the lights went out is that the first one died for whatever reason and the other one was hungry.

The web is full of videos with tanks full of mixed plecos.

they can live together no problem. how big is your tank? and as mentioned above plecos need hiding spots / or just spots where they feel safe. fancy plecos also need pristine water quality, what is your water change regimen? in my experience green phantoms grow pretty slow so I wouldn't assume its female cuz you had it for a year and it was 3 inches. also, what is a king tiger flash. I have a king tiger, and in the past I have had a flash pleco, but I have never heard of a king tiger flash. If your getting another pleco of the two you mentioned I would go with the king tiger. imo it is much more hearty and acclimates to your tank better than a gold nugget. I have a good amount of pleco experience and just never had luck with gold nuggets. but that's just my experience.
