Hey everybody, I have an L200 (H. subviridis) that I've had for about 3 weeks. He never really ate properly and his eyes began to sink:

After noticing, I moved him to his own tank and began treating with Hikari's Prazipro (praziquantel) based on the recommendations of a few other fish keepers.

Three days after treatment began, it took these pics:

Is he getting better, or is it just wishful thinking on my behalf (the after pics suck because he kept running from me)? The good thing is that he ran, as he was very inactive before. However, he appears still ignore all food offered (Zucchini, lettice, raw market shrimp, pellets, squash and even frozen blood worms).

Not 100% but 3 days later and he is still alive is a good sign to me. From what I have experianced once the eyes start sinking chances are they are not gonna make it. His eyes I think may look a little better but I am no expert. Again I am just thinking out loud and I am sure others will chime in later.

I'm still hopeful. He has become much more active and I caught him nibbling on some shrimp last night. I just need to get him in a proper tank. This one is close, but there's nowhere near enough rock in there.

Do you have any driftwood in the tank for him to chew on? try feeding him at nite with the lights of might help also. we have an L-200 small guy took him about 3 days to try the veggies. Also some sinking wafers may be helpfull. im no expert just some ideas. good luck because they are awsome fish

He is fed at night. I've tried just about everything as far as food is concerned. The only things that I've witnessed him eating were shrimp and HBH pellets.

I have driftwood that's currently in thawing in a tub on my back porch. It should be ready for the tank today. There are a bunch of river rocks in there currently, and a beastly powerhead (~15x turnover per hour) on the other end of the tank.

In my experience sunken eyes on plecos is usually a sign of starvation, severe illness, and or internal parasites
More often than not it is starvation though try and get him to eat My phantom has always been a fan of softer drift woods

Try kiwi, green mango, sweet potato, pumpkin, or butternut squash.

I'll try the sweet potato tonight, have to go shopping for the rest. Are these okay to leave in for 5-6 hrs (overnight)? With all that sugar, the water has to get cloudy.

I'm going to have to agree with you on this one. I'll take some updated pics tomorrow. He went to town on shrimp and zucchini last night. He won't touch anything else that I've tried though. I'll try my driftwood out tonight too, but it might be disintegrating.

sunken eyes on plecos are often signs of internal parasite, and treat them with internal parasite medicine is a good idea. and fish with internal parasite have poor appetite.
