some months ago i picked up 3 L204's from my local fish store at approx 2" size.. and put them in my planted 20h to grow out abit. Well now I have 1... and he is pretty evil. anyother pleco species i've tried putting in there. includeing a whiptail, and a clown pleco. have been quickly singled out from the tetras and platy and attacked. After loseing the other 2 L204's "mysteriousely" the aggression towards the other plecos i try to put in there mkaes me pretty sure he's just one mean bugger. any one else have experiances with this? I plan on trying to introduce a few more with this guy into a 40 breeder in the next few monthes when the current fish in that tank get moved into a larger tank. any suggestions for hopefully succesfully keeping a colony or pair ? If he wasn't so pretty and always out and about and active I'de take him back. evil fish.. lol.. and I say He because the head shape looks very male though I haven't seen the bristles on the tail region. I'm guessing he's still a teenager? or very young adult at his size now about 3"?

If he's that aggressive, wait till you know for sure that its a male, then get a female. It may be prudent to get a female thats a bit bigger than he is, that way the female will be able to stand up to him better.
Unless youre keeping a colony, i wouldnt put any other bottom dwellers with the pair.

A few months back, I bought 4 L 204s for a 37g tank. Within weeks I was down to only 1 left. It now lives in a 55g with a variety of bottom dwellers, including some BNs and an L201. The only time I see it get aggressive is when someone else gets too close to the algae disc that it claims. Even then, the chase is brief. Then again, while my 204 may or may not be overly aggressive (not convinced either way-maybe just with own species), it sounds like yours might be.
