I just rescaped my tank today to make some more open space for larger plecos. Recently added a 6" L27 and will be purchasing a 7" l253 next week. Currently my largest is an 8" rhino.

While visiting one of my local stores, I came across a 7" l240. It's been there for a least a couple of years but as it's up on a top shelf and usually hiding I'd forgotten about it. The owner offered it to me for a very low price and I'm tempted. I currently have a 4" l240 that I'm fairly certain is a male. I'm tempted to buy this bigger one next time I go back if it's a female.

I've read the Leporacanticus, especially the L240 can be aggressive. While I've luckily never run into issues of aggression with my plecos, they're all on the smaller side. Would adding this big vampire be risky or am I over thinking it.

My tank is 150 gallons.

Thanks.

I have 2-L264s, a heterdon, and a L091 with an L114, and L201 in a 125 and everyone has pristine fins. The only true adult in the tank is the L201 though. The others are 4-5"

Not sure that helps too much, but its information. lol

I have two L240's ( 4-5") in my tank , no real aggression , maybe a little bumping now and then..one seems to be dominant , they have split the tank in half for territory .. no other pleco in tank . The tank is heavily planted , with a good sized driftwood pile . GL

I guess more specifically, i read that large L240 are aggressive with similar patterned plecos. Should I still be OK adding a large one with a 7" L253?

Thanks again.
