Getting a l25 7 pointer soon, around 5". I was wondering about tank mates, I was thinking a pair of wild discus (probably heckel) but would the l25 eat them? What else would work good with the temp at 80-84? Tank is a 40 gallon. Thanks for any advice!

L25 won't eat the discus, keep it well fed as they are hungry Plecos.

Don't try putting an aro in there unless you plan a huge upgrade lol.. Sorry I don't have suggestions for stock though

Really you can add anything that fits into a 40 gallon. Have a small powerhead for some water current and add a group of tetras. The 40 gallon will only last so long for your l25. Plan on an upgrade in the future or you can sell it.
I think a couple heckel discus with the 5inch L25 should work fine. Just do big frquent wc's esp for the discus. I would just put a small piece of decor (rock or driftwood) in there for the scarlet, but nothing too tall so the discus have plenty of clearance space to do their thing. When the scarlet gains a few inches, I would look to upgrade
Thanks for the advice guys, I have a 90 in the other room id be putting the l25 in. Having a hard time find one for sale now. Kinda sucks.
I just got two 7 point l25s around 9". You won't regret spending the extra money for a 7 pointer. The color on the fins is so nice
