So I picked up my first L273 today... unfortunately for myself and the fish he was in rough shape when I saw him at the wholesaler. He didn't have a whole lot of color and his tail had a small nick in it. I thought no big deal some good water and decent food will turn him around in no time (he was actually eating when i strolled up on his tank). I've gotten great deals on other pseudacanthicus species this way and in my experience as long as the fish is eating it can be turned around. So I get back to the shop and upon acclimation realized that his dorsal fin was badly damaged during packing. The first several spikes were broken off, not down to the base but about halfway down. It's currently holding on by the fleshy material between the spikes. My question is will this ever grow back? My gut is telling me no and I guess I'm just reaching out to see if anyone has experienced this before. I'm currently acclimating him into a 75 gallon quarantine tank.

My guess would be probably not, at least not in the short term, but it should still be healthy enough without that part of the spine, and should pose only little asthetic problemms.

I have seen a lot worse grow back. It is not guaranteed but there is a good chance.
