Sorry, the above info is incorrect. The L400 pleco does not sell in local fish stores (unless you live in Livonia, MI), and is quite rare. They are on the banned for export list from Brazil, so the only people that have them are people that bought them before the ban, or people that have bought them since from breeders. There are 2 different species of L400s, one runs about 4" to 5" in length. The variant is a smaller version that only reaches 3". It is true that they are a hypancistrus species. They like temps in the mid 80° range, are mostly carnivores, and are relatively shy. I have had a breeding group of these for over 3 years and have had many spawns. They are not that difficult to keep. I would say average price for fry runs $25+ per fish, with the price of adults 3 or 4 times that amount. Let me know if I can be of any more help.
