Hey, what is a good/decent price for a approx. 3" or so Zebra pleco? One of my LFS has 3 in that are being sold for $125 a pop. I am super tempted by them, wanna try breeding them. Just curious. Any info would be helpful too, just recently got into plecos.

Also, could you tell me any info on the Leopard Cactus pleco...i think its L114..thankz!

Zebra plecos usually go for $200 per pleco usually no matter what. Get them, that is a good deal. They can also be territorial with each other, so provides lot of hiding places.

That is cheap for what I am seeing on line.

do you have more??? wanna get some too!!! :D
where do you live though? from what i have read... 3inch of the zebra it can breed already.. and you need a cave for them... saw some for sale at aquabid...

http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/auction.cgi?breeding&1138061482

and try to make water changes regularly and strong water current.. basically need to have them think it is rainy season.. with regards to temperature... not sure.. i know in rainy season it is cold.. but some say should make the temp a little high. :headbang2

good luck!

if theyre zebras that sounds to good to be true if they are great deal!!!!!
A few things though they will not live in poor water 0 nitrates and ammonia also fast water is recommened low light some plants and a cave and some wood also they prefer lower ph but will tolerate the norm.
before you buy em check their stomachs if they are sunken forget it they'll probably die within days fancy plecs are not easy to keep hope you get em wanna see some pics my all time favorite fish

this might be useful to help simulate the seasons of breeding most plecos. they are stimulated by a drop in temperature and a drop in change of TDS acts as a trigger then they begin to spawn when a strong current is introduced. Think it sounds more complicated than it is but havn't bred these species so, wouldnt no first hand. Hope these are helpful:

they cost more than that in Brazil....buy them and re-sell them if nothing else.....but make sure they are the genuine article, many fakes are being sold as L46

Thats what I do on ocassion go from one traded in fish right to the other store who sells the plecs

oh thats nitrites on my post not nitrate

How do i tell if they are the real deal? Pretty sure they are, there is a guy that is breedin them and then sellin them to the LFS...if I could only find that guy I could get them even CHEAPER! :D I haven't gotten them yet, cuz I'm not horribly into plecos, and $125 is still a lot for one fish for me...lol...specially if I'm not really into it. It is temptin though. I live in Nebraska though, anyone who is relatively close, come on up, stay at my house and the next day we could drive up and I'd show them to yaz. I may do a trade with them actually...gettin 6 tigrinus...;).....
