IN A PLACE
I got my 10" L47 in last week from snookn. Unfortunately, there were weather delays and he was in the box for over 48hours. He arrived in a popped bag in about 2" of water. He had been in my tank for 8 days. I have tried live blackworms, algae wafers, zuchini, and shrimp. He still won't eat. Water params are good 0 ammonia or nitrite, <20 nitrate. I have done 2 or 3 partial water changes over since he arrived. The lights have been off up until the last few days. he has a nice hiding spot with driftwood. Almost forgot, the tank is a 55g.

Anyone got any advice for enticing him to eat?

Garlic supposedly is an appetite stimulatant. Try either (1) buying garlic extract and soaking the food in it before feeding the food, (2) rubbing cut garlic on the food item, or (3) feeding the fish with food that has garlic in it: (a) put garlic in some repashy food, or (b) (an easier method) feeding with NLS Thera A+ w/ extra garlic (pellets that include garlic).

Put food in at noght before the lights turns off, you might not see him eat but probably eating at night... Maybe still getting used to the environment and other tankmates

I would track down some anti parasite and de wormer frozen food. Feed him that for a couple of weeks to make sure he is healthy. Just covering your own *** and doing a quarantine of your own too. IMO

The problem is that he is not eating. I dosed the tank with prazipro when I introduced him.

So I am not going to feed the tank for 48hrs, then soak some zuchini in seachem entice/ garlic juice, and try it. Also, I got some seaweed to try out.

Mangos aren't the most outgoing plecs so being a 10incher in a 55gal..food might not be his main concern quite yet. Not sure of your tank decor, but u might want to have plenty of large rocks or driftwood he can conceal himself a bit. What is your temp? (82 to 85deg is ideal for them) Any tankmates in there with him?

I will double check the temp tommorrow, it is usually about 80-82. Good idea about bumping the heat up. He has a few options to hide in. The tank is a 55g tube tank; both sides have rock caves and driftwood. he has found his spot under the driftwood. Also in there are some grow out 16 roseline barbs that school mostly on the other side of the tank and a family of 9 south american fw puffers. those fish are all less than 1" in length. There is a pair of albino algae eaters--about 2" each. The last fish is a mormyrus kannume baby dolphin. The baby dolphin likes to swim in the same cave as the L47 and will chase away any of the other fish if they get to close to the both of them.

So temperature and garlic veggies are on my to-do list tomorrow.

Try that.. should work..tankmates seem fine. I always wondered if mine ever eat till i fed them at night with just enough light in the room to just barely see the mangos. I dropped zuchinni & veggie wafers & they would go nuts. Wake up the next morn & everything is gone. Very nocturnal plecs

Can believe black worms didn't work, I quarantine my stuff in a smaller tank. It easier for feeding and for them to find food when it right underneath or near them at all time. Because you know how some pleco are, they will miss the food even if it right in front of them.
