Here's a pic of one of my lil buggers. Sold as "Lac".

What do you guys think? :screwy:

That's a hard one cause it's so small but judging by the edge it goes in it seems and comes out making a small v indicating mala..

V fold suggests mala as well. Count the pores. Malas have 4. Lac have 6-8 and U fold.

Who's it from? Wes? If I'm as confused as you are my opinion doesn't really count... Lol

However I'd say either lacerdae or Australis I remember a Australis having a jaw shape and color similar to it. Doesn't look mala to me at all... But that's just my opinion

Could be australis if there is 5 pores and not a typical v like mala. I can't see the pores too well. You maybe right creni.

Cant always go off of the pattern, I've had juvenile malas with a very similar pattern as far as color and striping goes on the lower jaw. Obviously not identical but very close.

Don't think a lac. Here's a lac to contrast. Much different. Sorry for the grainy pic. The number of pores will lean toward the best ID.

I do remember telling someone here that you can't go based off color and pattern like last week LOL.

The lines on the jaw I think are much more parallel than u guys give them credit for in the pics. The way the person holds the fish, the angle it was shot at, the size of the fish, and the species really determines it. I believe Australis jaw shape is somewhere in between a V btwn lacerdae and mala if I remember correctly. There was a huge argument awhile back in 2008 that generated 400+ posts I read last month lol. Fish turned out to be an Australis. Anyways my opinion is irrelevant I'm pretty confused on these fish...

I don't really see pores on any of the wolves here..... lol.

Fish in the pic is one of Wes's. Believe it's the "red" flavor...... The fish is small, head is about the size of my pinky finger nail. About like a "AA" battery with a tail.

Looks Lac to me? Maybe that's just my "wishful" thinking...... lol
