I am going to be hooking up the pond box to the pump but the inlet for the pump is 1 1/4"(ish) and the outlet for the pond box is 3/4". What effects will it have on the pump if the inlet portion is down sized to 3/4"? The smaller diameter hose will only by a few inches long before it hits the pond box.

Thanks.

Does you Tetra box filter have different sized fittings? They usually come with 3/4", 1", and 1 1/4" fittings. You don't want to restrict the water intake to the pump.

The fitting that came with the pond box doesn't fit around the intake. It will restrict flow if I use it. I guess I can modify the box and add a large bulkhead to it.

But the most important part is to NOT restrict flow to the intake of the pump. Got it!
