Has anyone used these? I have a pair of 2400's in my sump now, and I think I need more flow. But I'm not buying a couple of 2900's--what would be the difference?

If I"m gonna upgrade, I want to go with "significantly" more flow -- Laguna's go from 2900 to 4280--so I guess that's what I'm going with.....

But, I'm wondering if there isn't some other submersible pump I should look at? Something in the 3500 GPH range maybe? Some other type besides the Laguna Mag Drive?

And do the 4280's work as well as the 2400's? I really like the 2400's a lot, I just wish they were "bigger". If the 4280's are the same pump, just bigger, then I like 'em. If they are different, and don't work as well, I'm gonna go with something else......

Ideas?

Go for it. Great pump. I've been using mine for 4 trouble free years. They are very efficient pumps.

Excellent pump. I have both. Biggest difference is the 4280 is larger and has a larger diameter hose connection /quick disconnect. Dont plan to plug N' play the fittings but otherwise I would highly recommend it.

Sicce hf 12.0 is 3200gph, no experience with them but it was a toss up between this and the Laguna 2900 for me. If I remember correctly the tie breaker was more members on mfk had Laguna and since I'm more familiar with mfk I trusted them more than members on random forums that came up via Google.

I also have 2...2400s for my 600 gallon. I decided to use 2 for more circulation and the 2400s had the best wattage per gph....

Are u planning on going with 2 4280s or 1 2400 and 1 4280?

I'm thinking about going with 2 4280's on a 540 Gallon display tank. The pumps would go into a sump on the floor, and push water 5 feet high over the back of the tank, and into the tank.

I think the pump output charts say I'd end up with 6000 GPH from a pair of 4280's.

I'm hoping to get more turnover for better mech filtration. I want it cleaner.

That will certainly do it. Please post pics. I am overhauling all of my filtration and have two of these pumps as extras. Would love a few extra ideas.

Using a drip system and filter socks helps
