I actually got to go out fishing yesterday up at Lake Raystown, my favorite spot in PA even though it is man made. I didn't have a boat so we had to fish on the shore, but caught about 50 sunnies, and 2 rock bass. I wasn't sure whether to post this to the fishing forum or here, but I took a lot of pix so decided here would be the best...if it needs moved feel free. The best part, even though you can't fish where they are, the monster carp. Yeah they are just a junk fish, but these guys up here are huge.. some probably at least 40-50lbs. They are massive..made me realize just how tiny and non-monster my fish are..haha.

found this guy dead, not sure what he was?

This place is definitely worth going, can catch a lot bigger/better fish with a boat.

Nice! I grew up in Bedford. Used to fish Raystown a lot growing up. I'm actually going fly fishing on the Little Juniata this Sunday, which is about 10 mins north of Raystown. That dead one is a perch. Decent size too. They're good to eat, though that one probably wouldn't be :D

Those carp are awesome..

i've fished a few club tourneys over there.

Sweet, I love the little Juniata. I've been up there a few times, but haven't fished there yet. I'm like 45 minutes from Raystown, I try to go up whenever I get time. Haha, thanks for the id on the dead fish, he smelled pretty bad..:) My friend was amazed I picked it up.

wow, i wonder what it would be like to try and swim with those carp

I'd love to try that! They pack so tightly when people are there they almost swim over each other.. well they actually do. At some points you can't see the water anymore, it all looks like a sea of huge carp. I got soaked just feeding them. I'm lucky my camera still works it got pretty wet too.

Awesome pics, man...thanks for that. I regretfully only got to go there once when I lived back there and probably will never be able to go back.

thanks :) that sucks you only got to visit once. it's definitely a great place to relax and enjoy. beautiful scenery and huge fish!

Ha ha, those carp remind me of my childhood. My family used to go boating on weekends at a marina on Ten Mile Creek right off the Monagahela River in western Pennsylvania an hour or so south of Pittsburgh. I used to love fishing at the marina, but I was afraid to take the fish off the hook. I used to talk people into taking the fish off the hook for me.

One day I caught a large carp, couldn't get anyone to take him off the hook. My stepfather asked, "What's there to be afraid of? Why don't you take him off the hook, you caught him?"

My reply (in a whiney little voice) was, "But he has thick lips."

People in my family still like to throw that quote back in my face to this day, and I'm 41 years old.

 that's a great story! I can relate to that, when I was younger I hated taking fish off the hooks. I don't think I ever said anything that funny though! Thanks for sharing :)
