lake sturgeon count thread 2000+12

well, it is a bit early to start this, but we have got a whopper for the first lake sturgeon of 2012!!! just like last year and the year before i willl be keeping track of our lake sturgeon progression. last year we had a treat with being able to help the dnr tag some of the smallest sturgeons they have ever tagged and i caught a tagged one myself!

i also have a release video of this monster.

so here is the break down of it.

yesterday
1x lake sturgeon at 62"!!!!!!!

today nothing but gizzard shads.

been sick, but i got out today! and what a day it was!!!!

i'll start out with the one that got away. it was WELL over 50" the hook straightened after 5 mins in battle. it was spooling my 60lb power pro muskie setup. i tightened up the drag and didn't slow it down with only a 1/4 spool or less i started to thumb it to slow it down when the hook pulled! a true MONSTER!!!!!!

now on to the landed fish.

my friend got one at 30" and i got one at 52"!

brings us to 3 for this year.(don't count the ones that get away)

i have a vid of the release, but due to my friend having to land it for me we didn't have someone to film the fight.
