I picked up some (4) juvie Lamprologus ocellatus' (Gold) yesterday and I am converting a 15gal hospital to a shell dweller's tank.

I also picked up about 8 small to larger sized shells for them, and they have already marked their shells and are defending them!

I plan to add more dweller's, but not exceed 8-10 in the tank.

What are some other dweller's that I can add and not have too much trouble with? I want some color variety as well. And since the ocellatus' don't grow larger than 2-2.5", their neighbors should be around that size as well.

Any guidence is appreciated. :)

Yeah what mike said you are maxed with a 15GAL occie tank, i have a 20gal long with 5 of them and they will not tolerate a new species of shellie, you may be able to add some wild feeder guppies or endlers as top water action but really no other shellie..

So adding 1 or 2 brevis' is a bad idea?

Yeah, I like these little guys and it's cool watching them, but everything is at the bottom. Need something floating middle and up top.

Yeah, nothing else in there. For their size, they are some pretty nasty little fish. Nothing but larger fish would be able to tolerate them, and you have no room for larger fish.

Sorry Matt.. Do not add Brichardi's with the Occei's in a 15gal way too small for territorial conflicts and the Brichardi will kill the Occei's in a New York minute..

Nailed it! Brichardi species will take over any "community" tanks. They are the best colony builders I've seen.

Nothing, that 15 gal is maxed out with the Occies.
