i am creating a complete bio type tank of lake tanganyika. i have a 60 with texas holey rock from top to bottom. tank mates are 5 frontosa, 1 calvus, 1 compressiceps. please inform me of other species that will work good with these fish. thanks:D

Have you considered that the tank is a little small for this setup? Is there a larger tank in the future. I only keep comps and calvus with my Fronts, most others will give the fronts problems or the fronts will eat them one night.

They tank seems maxed out right now. The Fronts will need to be moved soon. The Comps. and Calvus could stay in the 60, maybe w/a few Julies. or Neoloamp. species.

there is a larger tank in the future for sure. i was told by my LFS owner that the Frontosa's grow slowly and so do the Comps & Calvus, is this true? how much time do i have until i start to harm the growth of the fish/

Not as slow as to find a 60 gal comfortable. Frontosas should be in a 120 minimum even for grow out.

The Comps and Calvus for sure are slow growing cichlids... not sure about the Frontosa's... It depends how large they are now to determine how much longer it will be to grow

60 is a bit cramped. Also, you need to figure out the sexes of your fronts...you will want one male and two or three females...I would add a few Syno multipunctatus cats and some lepidiolamprologus sp. once you upgrade your tank

Just look at it this way...ten gals per cichlid. Your Fronts will let you know when things are getting tight. When you get your bigger tank a nice colony of Tropheus can make it come to life. If color is what you want look for T. Mpulungu or Ikola Kieser. If color control is what your lookin for cant go wrong with T. Duboisi Maswa. Good luck Monsta.

Once you get a bigger tank, check out lepidiolamprologus kendalii or nkambe. AWESOME fish! 8" pike-ish looking beast. Very cool
