I will be setting up a tank for a trio of flamebacks. I may make that a fivesome with 1m and 4fs. What are your views on this ratio, also what sort of tank will they thrive in, meaning, what substate would be the best, do they like a rocky tank with lots of hides, etc? Also, water parameters would be helpful as well.

hap flambacks, or kyoga?? 1m 4f ratio will be fine, either will do well with many caves, ph around 8.2-8-4, i use crushed coral for substrate sometimes mixed with white sand.

what size tank?? pics???

Sounds like these two have it covered.

The tank is a 35 gallon hex tank, I will be doing crushed coral substrate, I have never done sand and I am a little aprehensive, with blue slate hides/rockwork. AC50 filter (biggest that will fit on one of the sides) I think it will be able since these will be the only fish in the tank. As for pics, I have not gotten the fish yet they are being shipped somtime this week or next.

thats a pretty small footprint, but im sure you could pull it off :), just make sure you have only 1 male, and try to stack high. And dont forget to post up some pics when your done.

Oh and what kinda flameback?????

Yeah, just one male. I hope so as well, if not they will be going into my 55 and will have to stick it out in there with my peacocks. What if I got a tall piece of holey rock that has large holes/caves throughout. Sorry, I believe they are haps as I didnt have to pay an arm and a leg to get them. They were 25 for the trio.

holey rocks are good, just make sure you have at least 1 place to hide per fish in the tank

what?

The flamebacks, I believe them to be hap flamebacks, they didnt cost as much as I saw the kyogas going for on aquabid. The guy said he had a trio of flamebacks for $25, and I dont think he would sell three 3" kyogas for that price.
