Im sorry if there is a better place for this thread, I am not sure what catagory this thread falls under... But its about water and im sure you all care about that.
On the local news they were just talking about, there being female hormones in our lake meaning our local water supply. They said that the filtration process takes out alot of things but does not or cannot remove female hormones
from women taking birth control pills and then using the restroom!!!

Im a girl but this still kind of freaks me out that im drinking stuff that allready passed through people. Im sure it wounldnt be as bad in a real lake???
......................... :screwy:
Im refering to Lake Mead (a man made lake) but I think a river runs into it giving fresh water, so how could there be so many hormones... Somebody should make cheap dip strip tests for things like that...... somebody should also test the effects of large amounts of human hormones on fish and plants, allthough I get the feeling there would be no ill effects

Howdy,

Yeah, that's a well documented problem. They even found male trout in outlets from UK sewer plants (with high estradiol content) that expressed female proteins .... it's called "endocrine disruption". Not good ...

and I wonder how this is affecting the men that drink local water or use ice cubes from tap water..Somebody should test them,
have you ever noticed how much people have changed over time, we look so different from the people in our history books , well at least in some paintings , the females are all shaped the same and I really think through selective breeding (of so many types ) has evolved people in general to be more attractive.
---- or maybe its all the female hormones....just kidding (hehe)

oooo cool , Thanks for moving my thread :)

I have to say we (humans) are the only bad thing to happen to this planet. And even though we are smart and created all this stuff , these large masses of things everywhere, that we built, dug up, moved, buried, ect.,, we humans are way to set in our ways to stop building and changing and taking and using.. Its sad and only getting worse,

I look at it like this,,,,
The world is a 30 gallon tank,, There were 2 baby oscars in it. As the oscars grew , They spawned and now there are way to many fish ,, poluting the tank and rearanging everything,
so many huge fish and they brake the heater, the filters clogged.
And they die due to lack of oxygen..
This is not a true story!!!!!
But a vivarium goes through the nitrate cycle as with a fishtank , as does everything. And im pretty sure if the world was my fishtank, I would buy 5 more tanks because this one is OVERSTOCKED!!!!!!!
not saying we should ban babies, but at least we could vow to make fuel from hemp , corn, or something eco-friendly , within 10 years and make it a law that every car in use must run off this fuel. That would be easy. Just as easy as dropping a couple of bombs on a country? Would you put a couple of drops of nail polish in your fishtank,, then why are we putting carcinogens into our air, its not like the trees can filter all this stuff out, , trees get cut down anyways.
trees dont grow fast enough , not as fast as we can cut them,,..

Since im on the subject (kinda) Hurricane Katrina was a sea of dead people. Floating around and getting bloated giving off toxins such as ammonia, now im no toxicologist but I can tell you that this is very bad!!!Then all these people from all over the world go to help with the hurricane katrina aftermath, and now they are talking on the news about "KATRINA COUGH" what causes it, if its contagous or evolves into something transmitable and transferable from person to person , we are all in big trouble. The people will spread things unknowingly.
And the World Trade Center thing, all of that smoke and debris,, do you think nature can handle all of these things.
And did you hear the bird flu has EVOLVED allready!!!!! cats can get it now, can they transfer it to something else??? Humans perhaps????Eventually it will happen.

If whales use sonar type communication, what is our sonar doing to them, could this be why they beach them selves, have they forgot how to hunt, and where to go!?.,., uuuuuuuugh I could go on forever.
This is only my wacked out opinions-- all of which is based on fact, but Im not sure of the exact details :screwy:

Katrina cough is just like the Missisipi cough after that flood, mold and fungus spores from soaked rugs and plasterboard.
There are somewhat more than 1300 deaths attributed to Katrina so far, hardly a sea of bodies. The December 30, 2004 tsunami killed over 80,000 people in Indonesia alone. Even that was just a minor event in the worldwide veiw of things.
A single large forest fire out produces the World trade bombing as far as environmental impact Let alone something like the Montserrat volcano which has been "guesstimated"at producing over 100 billion cubic meters of airborne ash before it is through.
Nature can handle anything, unfortunatly for us we are expendable so it might handle things by killing us off. Of course "nature" is just a term for things that happen without mankind's intervention, that includes supernovas and blackholes.
