Hi, does anybody have any expirienced with laminated flooring and large tanks like 300 gallons or more I mean was your flooring ok? did it crack or everything was fine how long has your tank been there etc. surely would like to hear from you guys Thanks in advance.

Your main issue will be the weight of the tank impeding the pieces of flooring it is sitting on from expanding and contacting, which will cause gaps or peaking in your floor. I don't recommend it.

actually it depends alot on what brand of flooring it is... I personally have a 270 on mine and it hasn't has so much as a sliver of a gap and no puckering at the seams... a good quality flooring holds firm to eachother and won't expand and contract very much... it's the cheapo flooring that will have a problem....

Also something to consider is if your flooring is applied directly to a concrete floor or if there is some sort of insulator in there... even just plywood...This makes a huge difference in the amount of movement of the floor as the concrete will pass temperature variations quickly to your floor and can create a situation that makes the floor more likely to expand and contract...

Just some thoughts for ya from a jack of all trades ... master of all of them :grinno:

Theres like a thin foam insulation....stand is wood.

i have been installing hardwood and laminate for years and i don't really see any problems with putting a big fish tank on them
i say you are ok with it

As long as the stand has a large flat base it shouldn't matter.
Although you can be sure that monster aquariums were never taken into concideration in the design of floating flooring....Waterbeds (A cali king is equivilant in weight and pressure to a 1000 tank.) Freezers...refrigerators...washers and dryers...ECT. are all taken into concideration.

I can't see it ever bieng a problem...
