Hey group! Anyone know anything about this cool looking fish from the Congo? My lfsa has a lot of wild caught and I wonder how they are. Not much info on the web. Thanks in advance.

They max out at around 6 inches. They spawn in caves, and sometimes dig pit around the caves. Spawns can reach 200-400 eggs. The pair bond is usually strong.

Since they come from faster moving water, they might not mind if you use a powerhead in the lower regions to create a current, but I wouldn't think this is a neccessity. Feed them a more carnivorous based diet. They can be aggressive toward both their own species and other species, especially in the lower half of the aquarium. Their swim bladders are small, so they will tend to hang out around the bottom a lot.

Post pics if you get some, we don't see them here on MFK every day.

I've never kept them as I haven't seen them offered for sale much,so get some & share the info. with us.

Bought half a dozen. They act a lot like typical shellies. Once pecking order was estabilished they seem to like to all hang out in my Texas holy rock. They pretty much ignored all the other fish which are mainly large haps and some big synodontis. Very active and stay near the bottum. Still trying with those pics.
