I have had some success in growing moss on a floating piece of pine bark, the moss is from my backyard just pulled right off the dirt and pushed on to the bark, and know it is partially submerged in pond water and grow quite well and is the greenest i have ever seen it, My question is has anyone esle tried this with land moss? I plan on apply some to som eunderwater bog wood to see how it will go.:nilly:

is pine bark safe in tanks? ive done this with terrestrial moss in paludarium but i used cork bark and grew the moss from spores bought at a amphibian specialist store.

My pinebark is free of all resin so it dies fine in the pond, no guarantees with aquariums. All depends on the individual piece of park your using.

what do you mean by rot fast I have pine driftwood and bark in my pond now for 2 years and their is no sign of rot just algae growth , I have seen pine root but only above the wate.r once it has sunken the water keeps most of what rots the wood so fast away such as air, most fungus and mold, insects, also the stable temps help in keeping rot out. The only thing I do to the wood is get it from the coast or a local body of water and let it bake in the 105f plus heat on a slab of concrete to bleed any remaining sap out and to kill all unwanted aquatic organisms. Then depending on the wood after six months in my pond they begin to sink.
