So, I wasn't really sure where to look for this, but I thought that I have read before about some types of rocks not being good for a fish tank. I was going to go to the landscaping store and see what kinda interesting rocks I could find. Is there any type that I should avoid? Limestone, granite, etc, etc...

Some rocks (limestone) can leach buffering agents into the water, which inturn raises your pH. That is the only thing i can think of, also perhaps some rocks may be coated with chemicals or something.

I'd just make sure you get rocks that have not been treated. I'm sure someone else with some more info will chime in soon.

I bought 80 pounds of larger stones for 28 bucks at the local landscaper. No problems. They're the smooth backyard pond type rocks. Make any sense? haha

yea, i think I know what u r talking about. I would just hate to go buy some rocks i liked only to kill my fish or something. Didn't know if there were any particular types that I needed to avoid other than limestone....

You'll be fine with granite. It is about as dense as rock gets. There shouldn't be much of anything leaching out. I have used granite sold for landscape walls. Had it in my tank for a couple years without any problems.
