Lap question.

My lfs just got a couple big WC laps in and im not sure if this will work woth my other polys especially my teug. The teug is about 6 inches long and thin and the lap is like 12" and thick. Do you think it could work?

I think it could work, yes. But on the other hand I have heard numerous stories of larger lower jaw species sucking down smaller fellow bichirs. If it were me, I would not do it. It all depends on the Lap's personality (aggression etc.)

Its in the store so im not sure the personality. But im almost positive the teugelsi cant fit down his throat.

If you do really want to get it I would suggest either putting the teug in another tank and growing it out or create a lot of hiding places that the teug can reach, but lap can't then keep the lap well fed. IMO unless you feel safe putting them both in the same tank and keeping the lap well fed, I would put the teug in a grow out tank to get some girth. If you don't have another tank then as last resort you can ask the LFS to hold it and power feed the teug to get some girth on him

yea, i dont have another tank for the teug, would a bunch of pvc pipe work? the Lap is so nice though...
 
Yeah PVC pipe should be good, just remember though just cause there's a size difference doesn't mean the teug is definantly going to be eaten

I don't think I am going to risk it. I like my Tuegelsi too much lol if the lfs still has them in a month or so ill pick one up, but if their gone ill see about ordering one. We just never get large lower jaw bichirs in my area.

Any more opinions

you could use a tank divider if you could find one that fits your tank
