Lapradei feeding

I'm a little worried about my lapradei, he doesn't seem to know how or want to to eat dory fillet which i have been feeding my bichirs lately.
My Congi and Endli love the fillet, but the lapradei doesn't seem to know its food? Once i saw him just smell the fillet then just back away?

When they were in quarantine, i fed them a different kind of fish, small freshwater sardines and he seems to love those together with my congi, but i was not able to buy that fish anymore since the ones available in the market were bigger .

should i adjust to what he wants to eat? or will he eventually know and accept the Dory fillet?
 
Can't resist asking for help again :) lol.
I tried to feed my bichirs fillet again, the congicus and endli ate like pigs,
the lap got excited, but he just smelled the fillet in front of him, then ignored it again.
Any suggestions? should i only try to feed this food to my bichirs until the lap gives in?
any tips on how to get him to accept the dory fillet faster?
 
When everything fails, I find Hikari sinking pellets/massivoire to be a good solution

Thanks :) He does take mp and small frozen fish, But i want him also to learn to take this fillet as this is usually available in supermakets here and is more accessible :) though its more expensive. :) but this lap is proving to be quite stubborn, My Ansorgii, Endli and Congi would eat till they look like sausages with fins, But this lap Still does not want it :)

I agree.

Have you tried feeding pellets to your Bichirs yet? All the ones I have had, including a Lap, have readily taken sinking pellets.

I tried dropping some NLS cichlsoma formula.
but i think the pellets are not big enough for them? My lap ignored the pellets, but my ornate seem to love them, the endli also chewed on some, will have to try to get some massivore. though i think it'll get expensive if i make it their staple food :)

btw when feeding them pellets, Isn't it messy to feed them pellets? do they swallow it whole? or chew on it to pieces?
 
depends on the size of your bichir. If it can fit, they would probably just swallow it whole.
Else expect some spitting out and munching again.
