My buddy needs a laptop and needs some help deciding what to purchase. I have been out of the PC game for awhile now and was never into laptops.

His budget is around $1000, could be more if really needed.

Things he will be using it for.
*Internet
*CD/DVD burning
*Keeping track of his taxidermy information
*Movies
*Possibly a game, but not likely

Also, no Macs please, he has a hard enough time using Windows and doesnt want to learn another OS. Please recommend a full laptop (Dell 5100 or whatever) dont just say Dell because that doesnt help much.

Thanks!

Macs can actually have Windows installed onto it. On an orgnaizational and user friendly level Macs blows PC out of the water!

Great thing about a Mac is if he has any problems he can simply signup for help at the Mac store. All of my friends who switched over to a Mac love it and had little to no transition problems....

what he said.... ill be going back to macs as well i hate pc

Have you seen the Mac Air yet? Its crazy!!!

the really thin small thing?? i want that laptop but fear ill brake it into even smaller things

Theres def. good and bad with the Mac Air. If you dont have all the other Mac stuff then I would stay away from it and just go with a regular MacBook. The new Leopard operating system is also really nice, the "time machine" feature that automatically backs up everything is awesome! Only thing i dont like is the new iMovie program.

Dell isnt the same anymore.. they sold out to a deal with wal mart. That means poor quality, high quantity.

Toshiba are great for the price, I had one but it was stolen along with a gps and other things from a vehicle.

the mac air scares me.. I held one in my hand at Frys. I thought I was going to break it.

dells were never good to begin with ever since i can remember they break my cousin got one for like 1000 and i get the cheapy emachine for like 500 and his broke after like a year and i still have my cheapy emachine he always made fun of it but who has a computer now lol. i dont use emachine i upgraded to hp and i recomend them. But id say go with mac they are much easier to use and apple makes all the software and things that go in them zept processor and video card. all other pc manufactures use things from differeant companies.
