Hey all
need some advice going forward with trying to manage my fish requirements for the future and trying to keep food on the table at the same time,
I am in the process of getting a 8 foot long x 4 foot wide x 3 foot deep tank (future home for rays). My rays are 2 years away from needing this tank.
My question is in a tank of the above size 2000ltr odd would it be possible to house a young dovii pair (male 6 inch female 4.5 inch) with a colony of 8 midas all over 10 inches.
I have kept dovii in the past and always alone or as pair, just hoping that it will be possible for a year or so till i can get money together for dovii pair tank.

Dovii pair with anything is tough. You might have luck since the dovii are young at the moment and the amphilophus are large. If the Dovii are actively breeding they may be able to stand up to a larger amph. There is also the fact that within a year the dovii may be larger than the amphs.
Basically, it is a risk, The tank is quite large which will help. If you don't have any other option I would say give it a shot and keep an eye on things, most likely it will work for a while until the dovii are larger than the amphs- then all bets may be off.
