I bought some 1.5- 2" ebjd for $29.99, now they r bout 5-6", what do u think I can get for selling them back for store credit? there r pretty much no ebjd pass 3" for sale anywhere. I was thinkin bout $50 min a piece

here r some other fish prices so you can have a better estimate:

4" jardinis go for $50-60
3.5 discus go for $30-35
fancy plecos generally go for $40-70
baby frontosa go for $15

A store sells retail, buys wholesale. You probably won't make money off of it, you may break even. Most stores around me won't even give store credit anymore unless the fish is rare, using the economy as an excuse.

EBJD's aren't terribly rare, but are in demand so you may get something, but don't expect 50 or 60. A car dealer doesn't buy cars at blue book price for a reason, dealers have to make money also.

As noted by others, you're not going to get that from an lfs. Otoh, to a hobbyist, a 6" ebjd, obviously healthy enough to have survived its juvenile period (which a great many do not), and not deformed, would certainly be worth $50 at minimum. Depends on the area, available stock, and knowledge of the buyer.

two things to consider:

1. Most fish stores sell fish for 3-5x higher than what they buy them for, at least. So think about what they will sell your EBJDs for, divide it by 5, then you know what you might be getting.

2. Larger and more expensive fish are harder to sell, and therefore more risky for them. They would probably rather spend the money they are going to pay you on a bunch of juvie EBJDs. It's just business...risk and reward.

Like others have suggested, why don't you tried posting on the market place here. Take out the middle man....both you and the buyer would be a lot happier.
