Hi guys Im considering buying a large fire eel about 1.5 foot to go with my 1.3 foot jardini.
anyone have ideas on whether this is a good/bad idea ?
thanks
kurt.

he is very mean but he lives with a 10 inch geophagus brasiliensis who does get snapped at every now and then but given lots of caves is surviving fine.
that said he destroyed 2 oscars.
Reason im asking is the guy whos selling the fire eel is keeping a jar with him at the moment so obviously it can work, just thinking that could perhaps be against the trend.

I've seen jars in a few different coms but it's more about the individual then anything else and it sounds like you have a mean one! I wouldn't unless you want your eel to just hide 24/7 or worse be killed...

since fire eels spends most time hiding, i guess it wont piss the jardini too much.

If it destroyed 2 oscars how do you think a fire eel will go?!

Get rid of the poor geo and buy a couple of big pleco's...

If the fish already has a history of destroying fish, then why would you even think of atempting this. Sounds to me like you already have a sitsuation that is eventually gonna cost you a geo.

Differrent jardini have different personalities, just because it is working for someone else, is no reason to think it will work with your killer.
