I have a 240 G standard 8 x 2 x 2 frontosa tank. I currently have 7 mpimbwe frontosa in the tank ranging from two 2"ers to five 7" to 10" adults and one 9" kissing gourami...

my water parameters are 0 nitrate, 0 nitrite, 0 ammonia, and a ph of 7.7
i don't not know my water hardness nor do i ever plan on checking it (atleast i'm on honest lol)

I am unaware of an invertabrate that would be able to grow large enough to not be eaten. There are an abundance of hiding places and i would like there to be a chance for them to breed if at all possible, that way if there are any casualities they might be able to over come predation by sheer numbers... idk lol

I'm by now means an invert expert tho i have successfully kept a number of crays and shrimp. I know the odds are slim to none but was just wanting to get an opinion from you guys

Thanks

Skyler

all i can really think of would be some adult crayfish. you may end up losing some in the long run, but they are they only ones that can protect themselves from medium sized fish like that. as long as you have enough large rocks on the bottom youll be ok.

also ive heard of the marble crayfish being a highly productive reproducer. theyre asexual so numbers and sex isnt an issue

albidius would work untilll molting time. plus to get it to the size it wouldnt get eatten, it would be worth big money!!
cherax quad IMO is a better option but grow slow too. possibly a large starting colony of marbleds plus keep ur fish very well fed

I have two marbles in a ten gallon now. Been in there with some cherrys for bout 2 months now. I've been wanting to pull em out and put em in something a lil bigger and see if they will reproduce. I don't know much about that whole process but since I've had them they have molted twice and gotten a little bit bigger but I haven't seen any reproduction yet.

I'd be more inclined to go with marbles as I am some what conerned as to the damage an 8" cherax destructor could do to one of my fronts. The safety of my frontosa are my number one concern.

Anybody got any opinions on how to induce marbles to reproduce?

just get a seperate 10gal for a cray!

Haha I have a ten gallon with some marble cray. I just wanted to try and add some more life to my show tank. I've always liked crays and inverts so I just wanted to see if there was something compatable
