everywhere i've read says they reach about 10" or so. the largest i've seen was one about 8" at a LFS. i've had mine since last may and it seems like he has not grown an inch. i feed a veritey of food, do 50% weekly water changes, and have great water quaility. mine is about 4.5"

if i remember correctly, they are very slow growers, dont quote me on this as i have been out of the game a while lol, when i last had geos, they grew 1/2" in the year i had them, they were red heads, not jurupari, sorry probs not much help lol

Mine looks like that too and he's in the juvy tank that gets powerfed. I think they're just the ectomorphs of the fish kingdom.

I have had my current guy almost a year and he has grown less than .5", I'd say. The adults I've had (Leucosticta, not real jurupari) have never gotten noticeably larger. They're much slower growers than Orangeheads.

They are very slow growers. I kept some for a couple years and only got a inch or so out of them. Great fish though and fun to watch.

He certainly looks healthy, but looking at its stomach I think it could use more food

he's very healthy and eats plenty. no matter how much he eats he never gets a big stomach. he's got washboard abs lol

I have one with the same issue.
He eats well, seems healty, and is in a large clean tank, but has not grown much.
He has a great personality and holds his own against his other cichlid tankmates.
