QLD, austaralia
for awhile now I've been looking for a larger species of loach,
I have 10 clown loaches, but they cant go in the 180 for a year or two, cant afford any larger clowns at the moment.
What other larger species are there? apart from black sharks(bit too big)
somthing that will top out at 8-15''.
Weather loach would be perfect, but they are declared noxious in Australia, and are illeagle to keep.

suggestions?

cheers

why cant you keep loaches? they grow slow.

I will let the other members help you, because from my knowledge the loaches you desired, would be rarer and more exspensive to attain.

Weather loaches are a noxious species, and their not in my local waterways, cant catch a wild fish or buy one.

And red tail botias? sounds interesting, Ill be sure to look it up.

Be careful with your choices. Red tailed botias (Yasuhikotakia modesta) are one of the most aggressive loaches rivaling even the diminutive skunk loaches (Yasuhikotakia morleti) and tiger loaches (Syncrossus sp.). None of these loaches mentioned should be combined with the more peaceful ones including clown loaches.
