Got this 10" +/- Vieja Melanurus about a month ago. It's my first large cichlid rescue and definitely had to be nursed back to health. Recovery was from swim buoyancy issues the first 4 days, Old small HITH openings, serious pectoral fin rot, and unhealthy colors (Darth Vader Mode). Safe to say after being exposed to optimal water conditions and some salt regiment in the beginning (no meds). Mel is healing up very nicely and looking purdy again and continues to improve. More importantly - Mel looks happy!

The fish picture in the background behind the Mel is a 8" Small Spot Polleni. But the second pic with Bocourti is the 5" Juvenile Big Spot P. Bleekeri.

Looking awesome Sam, fins look much better. If I had the room I would have kept it lol. Anyone interested heres some of pics after he was picked up from the seller.

Christopher,
Appreciate you taking the time to pick it up on my behalf and housing it overnight. Quite frankly, since, I never had a fish or rescued one with a hint of HITH before. I was a little skeptical on physical recovery. But...... wow! Pretty amazed on how fast it closed up. Clean water works wonders!
